There's no single best prop firm for beginners, but some plans are clearly more forgiving than others. A good first evaluation keeps your cost low, gives you room for mistakes and has rules simple enough to follow while you're still learning. Here's what to look for and which plans fit, based on each firm's official site and help center on November 3, 2026.
What makes a plan beginner-friendly
- A low, predictable cost. You may need more than one attempt. A one-time fee or cheap reset limits the damage.
- An end-of-day drawdown. Intraday trailing drawdowns punish giving back open profit, a common beginner mistake. See EOD vs intraday trailing drawdown.
- A soft daily loss limit. A limit that pauses trading for the day, rather than failing the account, stops one bad session from becoming a disaster.
- Small account sizes. A 25K account with a $1,000 drawdown costs less and forces you to trade small.
- Few extra rules. No consistency rule, or a loose one, means less to track.
Plans that fit
| Plan | Price | Drawdown | Daily loss limit | Consistency | Min days |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tradeify Growth 25K | $99 one-time | $1,000 EOD | $600 soft | None | 1 |
| Topstep 50K Combine | $49/mo + $149 activation, or $95/mo | $2,000 EOD | Optional $1,000 soft | 55% of target | None stated |
| Alpha Futures Zero 25K | $89/mo | $1,000 | $500 guard | None | 1 |
| MFFU Rapid EOD | One-time; see firm | EOD throughout | None | 30% | 4 |
Best if you want the lowest fixed cost: Tradeify Growth 25K
At $99 one-time with no activation fee, Tradeify Growth 25K is one of the cheapest ways to try an evaluation without a monthly bill. The profit target is $1,500, the drawdown is $1,000 end-of-day, and a $600 soft daily loss limit pauses trading for the day instead of failing you. There's no consistency rule and a one-day minimum. A reset costs $60.
The catch: position size is capped at one contract or ten micros, and the drawdown is enforced in real time even though it's calculated at the close. For a beginner, that size cap is arguably a feature. Read the Tradeify review.
Best if you want guardrails and clear rules: Topstep
Topstep's help center is detailed and dated, which helps when you're learning the rules. You can add an optional daily loss limit ($1,000 on 50K) that flattens positions and pauses trading without failing the account, and Topstep gives a small discount for adding it on the No Activation Fee path. Its news restrictions around CPI, jobs and Fed releases also keep beginners out of the most chaotic minutes.
The downsides: there's no 25K size, new accounts must use TopstepX, and monthly billing adds up if you take a while. Read the Topstep review.
Best if you dislike consistency rules: Alpha Futures Zero 25K
Alpha's Zero plan has no consistency rule in the evaluation, a one-day minimum, a $500 daily loss guard and a $1,000 maximum drawdown, at $89 a month for 25K. Like Tradeify Growth 25K, it caps size at one mini or ten micros. Pricing is monthly, and Alpha's platform list shrank in 2026 after it dropped NinjaTrader and Tradovate. Read the Alpha Futures review.
Worth considering: MFFU Rapid EOD
If you're comfortable without a daily loss limit, MFFU's Rapid EOD keeps an end-of-day drawdown through both the evaluation and the funded stage, has no activation fee and offers daily payouts. It has a 30% consistency rule and a four-day minimum, which add discipline but also complexity. Read the MFFU review.
Plans beginners may want to avoid at first
- Intraday trailing drawdowns, where open profit raises your loss limit tick by tick.
- Large accounts (100K and up), which cost more and tempt you to trade bigger.
- Instant-funding products, which skip the evaluation but cost several times more.
Trade micros and size from the drawdown
On a 25K account with a $1,000 drawdown, a 10-point stop on one MES costs $50, so you could take 20 full losses before hitting the limit. The same stop on one ES costs $500, half the drawdown. Start with micros and use the position size calculator.
