Cost compared
Topstep's Standard path costs $49 a month plus $149 when you pass, so passing in month one costs $198. Its No Activation Fee path costs $95 a month with nothing extra. MFFU's Builder 50K costs $153 with no activation fee. MFFU's Rapid page describes its fee as a one-time payment with no renewals, starting at $125, but doesn't list a price per account size, so check checkout for the exact figure.
If you expect to take several months, one-time pricing usually wins. See the cheapest futures prop firms for the full math.
Payouts in detail
Topstep
On the Standard Express Funded Account, you need five winning days of $150 or more before each payout. You can withdraw up to 50% of the balance, capped at $2,000 per request on 50K, with a $125 minimum. Topstep also offers an XFA Consistency option that needs three trading days and keeps your largest day at or below 40% of net profit, with a $3,000 cap on 50K. Internal approval takes one to three business days, and delivery depends on the method: Topstep lists same-day prop-to-brokerage transfers for US traders and instant Aeropay transfers to supporting US banks.
My Funded Futures
On Rapid accounts, payouts are available daily once you've cleared a profit buffer ($2,100 on 50K), with a $500 minimum. MFFU says most payouts are approved instantly, with manual reviews taking six to twelve business hours on weekdays. Pro accounts pay every 14 calendar days with a $1,000 minimum, and Builder 50K has a $500 minimum and a $2,000 cap per request.
The drawdown catch on MFFU Rapid
MFFU's Rapid plan uses an end-of-day drawdown during evaluation but an intraday trailing drawdown once funded. Intraday trailing follows your open profit, so giving back an unrealized gain can end the account. If that worries you, MFFU's Rapid EOD plan keeps the end-of-day drawdown throughout. News trading rules
Both firms restrict trading around major data, in different ways:
- Topstep blocks new opening trades in equity index and metals futures during a 10-minute window around CPI, the jobs report, PPI and Federal Reserve announcements. Micro limits during the window vary by account, and existing positions can be managed.
- MFFU requires Rapid and Pro sim-funded accounts to have no positions or orders from two minutes before to two minutes after its Tier 1 events (FOMC, FOMC minutes, the employment report and CPI). Its evaluations and Builder plans are not restricted.
See our economic calendar guide for release times.
Platforms
New Topstep accounts trade on TopstepX only. MFFU supports eight platforms, including NinjaTrader, Tradovate and TradingView. If you already have a setup you like, MFFU is more flexible.
Who each firm suits
- Choose Topstep if you want the cheapest first month, clear and dated documentation, and the option of a soft daily loss limit as a safety net.
- Choose MFFU if you want daily payout access, no activation fees and your own platform, and you're comfortable with Rapid's funded-stage drawdown or prefer Rapid EOD.
Bottom line
Topstep wins on entry price and documentation; MFFU wins on fees, payout speed and platform choice. Read the full Topstep review and My Funded Futures review, and size positions inside the $2,000 limit with the position size calculator.
